Fixed and portable marine VHF devices
Fixed marine VHFs are required by law with a microphone and waterproof with raymarine models equipped with GPS. Portable vhf useful in case of emergency if the fixed one should be faulty.
Fixed VHF and portables VHF
For navigation beyond 6 miles from the coast, legislation requires a marine VHF to be on board with which it is possible to communicate with other boats, with the coast guard, listen to weather reports and forward any requests for help. Marine VHFs all have a completely waterproof transceiver and their transmission power can be amplified by the antennas. The fixed VHFs have a transmission power of 25 W and can be mounted either on the dashboard or on the wall using a bracket. In addition to the functions provided by the legislation, they are able to transmit the GPS position and have a very bright screen. Portable VHFs are small in size with powers ranging from 3 W to 6 W and in addition to being waterproof they are floating. Given their limited power, it is recommended to use them as a service marine VHF in the event that the fixed one cannot be used due to malfunctions.
